Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic, with it’s UNESCO 13th century castle featuring Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements, together with an 11 heactare garden and 17th century Baroque Theatre is simply not to be missed. It was incredibly fortunate to have avoided bombings that decimated much of Bohemia.

The town is bisected by the Vltava River and takes a 90 minute coach drive from your nearest port so cruise lines usually offer this as a full day excursion – you may not feel like that extra time travelling, but it’s well worth it for the views over the old town from the Bell Tower of the castle.
